Our Milk

Great Tasting Fresh Welsh Milk From Your Local Dairy Farm

Our delicious milk comes from our prize-winning Midoa herd. Our 120 cows enjoy a carefree lifestyle on our Pembrokeshire pastures, overlooked by the Preseli hills in West Wales. We take great pride in supplying our quality milk to the local community of Newport, Cilgwyn, Dinas Cross, Nevern, Moylegrove and Eglwyswrw in Pembrokeshire.

A Local Product

Fresh milk direct from our farm to your doorstep

Basically, at Midoa, we don’t think that you can buy a better tasting milk than ours, it’s that simple! We are passionate about our product and love that we are able to share our fresh non-homogenised milk with our local community.

Consumers are becoming more focused on whole foods and the provenance of their animal-based products. We’re always more than happy to show any of our customers exactly where their milk comes from here on our Welsh dairy farm. We have been progressing our sustainable business so that the milk from Midoa can be supplied to local shops, cafes and restaurants in our Pembrokeshire area.

What’s Unhomogenised milk?

At Midoa we don’t homogenise or standardise our milk. Homogenisation is carried out by squirting milk at very high pressure through a machine, this breaks up the fat particles and makes them very small so they disperse evenly throughout the milk, so the cream doesn’t separate. It is thought that consumers prefer to see white milk rather than natural creamy coloured milk, but the whiter milk is just evidence that your food has gone through another ‘process’, rather than be as nature intended!

Non Standardised Superfood

Our pasturised natural milk isn’t standardised either, this is when the milk is separated into its cream and liquid and then re-blended to create the required amount of fat for whole, skimmed, semi-skimmed etc. With less processing, our milk tastes and looks creamier, supplied in our own recyclable and returnable glass bottles. The cream will rise to the top of the bottle – just like fresh milk used to be!

Environmentally Friendly Farm

Sustainable farming

At Llwyngwair Home farm we are committed to sustainable farming practices and we wanted this ethos to continue into our Midoa business.

We use reusable glass one litre bottles that we have had specially branded with our Midoa logo so that they are easily recognisable for the consumer. The bottles can be returned to shops or collected from your doorstep, then we’re able to clean and reuse them, cutting down on plastic waste, saving on land-fill waste and avoiding wasting fossil fuels, moving and recycling plastics.

Glass Bottle Collection

Milk stays fresher and tastes better when stored in glass

We run a bottle collection service with our shops where you purchased your milk and we ask that our individual customers return their bottles to us on their doorstep so that we can wash, sterilise and refill them with more delicious Midoa milk.

At Midoa, the cows use our robotic milking parlour as often as they want, they are much happier being able to roam freely into the milking parlour, whenever they choose to. The milking machine connects automatically to the cow’s teats and will turn off when the milking is complete.

I love milk from my local dairy farm

Milk from the cow travels from the parlour to our bulk stainless steel milk tank, where it is cooled. From the bulk tank the milk is diverted to our processing room where it is pasteurised, this kills any harmful bacteria, making it safe to drink. The milk is then bottled by hand into our Midoa reusable glass bottles.
